HCL Leap Customer Support will be moving to our new Customer Support portal. The “Go-live” date for this migration is Monday, April 1, 2019. This migration will affect all HCL Forms and LEAP entitled clients.
This migration will change the way you interact with HCL Leap Support going forward. Information on the new Support Portal, and how you can gain access to create, modify, and monitor support cases follows below.
How to contact and work with HCL Support?
HCL Products and Platforms Support portal: https://hclpnpsupport.hcltech.com/csm. There you will see your new case number and all your previous tickets. If you have an existing ticket, you will see both the new case along with your old ticket number. Going forward, only the new case number will be referenced.

I recently encountered a client requirement that was not easily handled by Leap’s out-of-the-box controls. The application that we built used a form as a dashboard, where a service was used to pull data from other form records into view. These records were presented to the user, but the client wanted to be able to perform operations from that dashboard view. The operations included launch, print, delegate and cancel.
As you can see from the image this is a very different look from any item type that Leap provides on the palette. What you see is an HTML item and its content was dynamically built. There are some immediate benefits to generating the table rather than rending Leap’s table item. We can add buttons, as seen in the last column, that can take custom actions on the related row. We also have more control over the styling of the table and its content
The latest release of HCL Leap is out and includes numerous updates which make it easier for designers to create more engaging applications. Go to the HCL Leap Sandbox to see a demo of all the new features or head directly to What’s New with HCL Leap 9.1.
The most significant area of improvement is with PDF handling. Application designers can now specify where to store filled PDFs. This can be any non-root directory location that the user has write access to. The new feature allows Leap to pass filled PDFs off to network locations that are then synchronized with downstream content systems. Other PDF handling improvements include the ability to map Leap table data to PDF “tables”, and the ability to flatten filled PDFs into read-only documents.
On October 1st, 2018, the HCL Leap Team rolled out the Client Advocacy Program for the product. The Client Advocacy Program for HCL Leap is a hyper-care approach to customer relationships. By working together with our clients, the HCL Leap technical team builds strong relationships with our clientele. This allows the team to understand the client’s business needs and provides insight into how our clients and their end-users are using the product.
Why are customer relationships important?
The clients and their end-users are the people who help drive the product roadmap. What does that mean? Our clients design applications with HCL Leap with specific business cases and workflows that are designed specifically for their industry. With numerous types of industries using the HCL Leap product, there may be several use cases that businesses need to implement. There are many areas within one business that use HCL Leap for various processes and applications. Each of these applications will have functionality needed for that business and their processes. As developers of the product, these use cases are important for us to know and understand so that we can implement features that come directly from the client’s business cases. This provides direct customer feedback on the direction of the product. With all this information gathered, the roadmap then defines when the features will be implemented.
HCL Leap is an extensible platform which allows solutions to be built on top of it. We felt that this limits the audience as we have many organizations that have opened HCL Leap up to the entire enterprise. This allows all employees to develop applications that help improve processes, reduce errors and accelerate digital transformation.

2018 is a transition year as we set roots in our new home (HCL) and prepare for growth. The team has been busy growing its technical resources are charting out a new product roadmap. Immediate plans are to address many of the customer requests that have been in the queue in the upcoming releases. The new name helps us move away from the “forms” positioning as we extend its functions in new areas.

On January 1, 2018 IBM Forms Experience Builder (FEB) was acquired by HCL. What this means is that FEB is now an HCL product. The acquisition should come as great news for FEB customers and partners as HCL is eager to invest in its development and growth. HCL is very focused on innovating and growing in low/no-code application and e-forms markets which FEB serves. With this renewed focus customers can be confident that FEB will be given the attention it needs to continue to deliver customer value.
This is also an exciting transition for the FEB team and me personally. Those of us who have been involved in the development, support and offering management of FEB are all joining HCL where we will be given the opportunity to grow FEB into the product our customers and partners want it to be. Customers will continue to work with the same subject matter experts they have in the past and see continuity with the product.
