The need for low code omni-channel apps over native apps
There are multiple apps that each company develops these days. If a lot of time is spent in the development of these apps then it would turn out to be a very costly affair. These apps would also become less relevant in the fast-changing times and technology. There needs to be a platform where apps can be developed quickly with just a drag and drop. Also, these apps should be such that they work on multiple platforms like web, mobile & chat and provide similar experience across all channels. For example, if you make a change on one channel, all channels should reflect the same change. Streebo App Builderpowered by HCL Leap builds such apps. Streebo’s low or no code tool when powered with HCL technology, can build excellent apps with the best-in-class features.

You will see major usability improvements in HCL Leap 9.2. The product provides an updated look with many improvements to make building applications easier. A goal of this releases is to make it easier for users to tap into the power of Leap. It has always been a powerful product, but some aspects have not been as simple as they could be. With the new release many things have become easier to do. Future releases will continue down this path as we strive to simplify the user experience for different areas of Leap.
HCL Leap Customer Support will be moving to our new Customer Support portal. The “Go-live” date for this migration is Monday, April 1, 2019. This migration will affect all HCL Forms and LEAP entitled clients.
This migration will change the way you interact with HCL Leap Support going forward. Information on the new Support Portal, and how you can gain access to create, modify, and monitor support cases follows below. How to contact and work with HCL Support? HCL Products and Platforms Support portal: https://hclpnpsupport.hcltech.com/csm. There you will see your new case number and all your previous tickets. If you have an existing ticket, you will see both the new case along with your old ticket number. Going forward, only the new case number will be referenced. If you have the customer admin role, you will be able to register new users under your account, or they can request to be added, see How to Register: https://hclpnpsupport.hcltech.com/csm?id=kb_article&sysparm_article=KB0010165 I recently encountered a client requirement that was not easily handled by Leap’s out-of-the-box controls. The application that we built used a form as a dashboard, where a service was used to pull data from other form records into view. These records were presented to the user, but the client wanted to be able to perform operations from that dashboard view. The operations included launch, print, delegate and cancel. As you can see from the image this is a very different look from any item type that Leap provides on the palette. What you see is an HTML item and its content was dynamically built. There are some immediate benefits to generating the table rather than rending Leap’s table item. We can add buttons, as seen in the last column, that can take custom actions on the related row. We also have more control over the styling of the table and its content
The latest release of HCL Leap is out and includes numerous updates which make it easier for designers to create more engaging applications. Go to the HCL Leap Sandbox to see a demo of all the new features or head directly to What’s New with HCL Leap 9.1.
The most significant area of improvement is with PDF handling. Application designers can now specify where to store filled PDFs. This can be any non-root directory location that the user has write access to. The new feature allows Leap to pass filled PDFs off to network locations that are then synchronized with downstream content systems. Other PDF handling improvements include the ability to map Leap table data to PDF “tables”, and the ability to flatten filled PDFs into read-only documents. Leap tables saw some improvements as well. File attachments now show in the table grid. Users can view and download attachments without opening the record by simply clicking on the file name in the table grid. Table column widths and titles can now be dynamically set through a new JavaScript function. The new function is useful when needing to adjust column widths and titles for multi-lingual, device specific and printing use cases. On October 1st, 2018, the HCL Leap Team rolled out the Client Advocacy Program for the product. The Client Advocacy Program for HCL Leap is a hyper-care approach to customer relationships. By working together with our clients, the HCL Leap technical team builds strong relationships with our clientele. This allows the team to understand the client’s business needs and provides insight into how our clients and their end-users are using the product.
Why are customer relationships important? The clients and their end-users are the people who help drive the product roadmap. What does that mean? Our clients design applications with HCL Leap with specific business cases and workflows that are designed specifically for their industry. With numerous types of industries using the HCL Leap product, there may be several use cases that businesses need to implement. There are many areas within one business that use HCL Leap for various processes and applications. Each of these applications will have functionality needed for that business and their processes. As developers of the product, these use cases are important for us to know and understand so that we can implement features that come directly from the client’s business cases. This provides direct customer feedback on the direction of the product. With all this information gathered, the roadmap then defines when the features will be implemented. HCL Leap is an extensible platform which allows solutions to be built on top of it. A great example of this is Streebo – a leading HCL Leap partner – who have created an offering that works with HCL Leap for creating intelligent multi-channel apps. Continue reading to learn how this offering is helping Adarsh Credit deliver value to its customers.
Adarsh Credit and Co-operative society is a leading multistate co-operative society in Asia with more than 800 branches, 2 million happy customers and 370 thousand advisors. As the wave of digitization hit the banking industry, Adarsh Credit, experienced a change in customer expectations. While the customer base was increasing; customer service was slow. Adarsh Credit wanted to step up the game by embarking upon a digital transformation journey. AI was making headlines across the board and deploying a Chatbot to address customer queries was the next logical step. However, this entailed numerous backend integrations, integration with their existing SAP core banking system and other third-party services. As Marty Lechleider said in his previous blog “These are exciting times for HCL Leap customers.” Along with a brand new v9 of HCL Leap and an aggressive and exciting roadmap, we have introduced new, simplified pricing to help customers get started quickly and grow at their pace.
HCL Leap allows technical, and non-technical, users the ability to quickly develop and deploy enterprise applications to help capture information, engage with customers and partners and employees and track and report on that information. It’s a tool that allows the “citizen developer” to interact with back-end services without code and drive digital transformation for their enterprise, customers, and partners. When we look at the value customers derive from HCL Leap it's the easy development and deployment, and eventual consumption, of applications. Some other low-code/no-code platforms focus on the developer and base the licensing around developers. We felt that this limits the audience as we have many organizations that have opened HCL Leap up to the entire enterprise. This allows all employees to develop applications that help improve processes, reduce errors and accelerate digital transformation. HCL Leap team has invested in several new resources to help you learn and become more productive. Here in this Community you will find access to all of them.
HCL Leap Forum – We expect this forum to become the forum you go to for asking questions. The team is committed to reviewing and responding to whatever you post. So go ahead and create an HCL Leap Forum ID and ask away! HCL Leap Wiki – Most of the content has been moved over from the FEB DeveloperWorks wiki and has been enhanced. The new format is clearer and provides us with more flexibility to be creative with content presentation. HCL Leap Sandbox – This is a place where you can work with the latest version of Leap, run prebuilt Leap demos, and download examples and learn how they work. You will need to register the first time you access the Sandbox. We encourage you to check out the new content. Tell us what you think and what else you would like to see. 2018 is a transition year as we set roots in our new home (HCL) and prepare for growth. The team has been busy growing its technical resources are charting out a new product roadmap. Immediate plans are to address many of the customer requests that have been in the queue in the upcoming releases. This includes making the product easier to use and improving its ability to address the application requirements that many of you have told us about.
At the same time, we are charting a new vision for the product that will guide its growth into an offering which will be able to address a much wider array of use cases. One of the reasons we changed the name to “Leap” was to remove the word “forms”. As users of HCL Leap know - the product is much more than just “forms” and is more appropriately described as a no-code app platform. The new name helps us move away from the “forms” positioning as we extend its functions in new areas. WE ARE EXCITED TO SHARE WITH YOU THAT HCL LEAP V9.0 WAS ANNOUNCED FOR GENERAL AVAILABILITY ON JULY 11TH, 2018. LEAP, FORMERLY KNOWN AS FORMS EXPERIENCE BUILDER, WAS ACQUIRED FROM IBM IN DECEMBER OF 2017 AND HAS NOW BEEN RELEASED AS AN HCL PRODUCT WITH NEW FEATURES AND FUNCTIONALITY AND WITH THE NEW BRAND IDENTITY OF HCL LEAP (STANDING FOR LIGHTWEIGHT ENTERPRISE APPS).
THE PRODUCT NAME CHANGE REFLECTS THE AGGRESSIVE ROADMAP WE HAVE PUT IN PLACE AND EXPANDS THE PRODUCT SCOPE BEYOND FORMS AND INTO THE LOW-CODE/NO-CODE SPACE. LEAP IS A WORD THAT REFLECTS OUR VISION FOR THE PRODUCT: MOVING QUICKLY FORWARD! WE ARE EXTENDING PRODUCT CAPABILITY TO CONTINUALLY ADDRESS CUSTOMER PAIN POINTS AND PROVIDE THE MARKET WITH THE BEST SOLUTION FOR QUICKLY AND EASILY MANAGING DATA CAPTURE AND PROCESS AUTOMATION THROUGH WEB APPS. On January 1, 2018 IBM Forms Experience Builder (FEB) was acquired by HCL. What this means is that FEB is now an HCL product. The acquisition should come as great news for FEB customers and partners as HCL is eager to invest in its development and growth. HCL is very focused on innovating and growing in low/no-code application and e-forms markets which FEB serves. With this renewed focus customers can be confident that FEB will be given the attention it needs to continue to deliver customer value.
This is also an exciting transition for the FEB team and me personally. Those of us who have been involved in the development, support and offering management of FEB are all joining HCL where we will be given the opportunity to grow FEB into the product our customers and partners want it to be. Customers will continue to work with the same subject matter experts they have in the past and see continuity with the product. |
