2018 is a transition year as we set roots in our new home (HCL) and prepare for growth.  The team has been busy growing its technical resources are charting out a new product roadmap.  Immediate plans are to address many of the customer requests that have been in the queue in the upcoming releases.  This includes making the product easier to use and improving its ability to address the application requirements that many of you have told us about.

At the same time, we are charting a new vision for the product that will guide its growth into an offering which will be able to address a much wider array of use cases.  One of the reasons we changed the name to “Leap” was to remove the word “forms”.   As users of HCL Leap know - the product is much more than just “forms” and is more appropriately described as a no-code app platform.  The new name helps us move away from the “forms” positioning as we extend its functions in new areas.
Near term focus with the product roadmap will include:
  • Improved document capabilities - Filling PDFs is just the start. In coming releases, we will add the ability to specify where you want PDF to be saved, adding table data, adding signature images and even a capability to generate PDFs.
  • Business user productivity – Expect to see capabilities for custom application templates and themes which can be used to help guide users with app creation.  Another focus is helping users move off of spreadsheet-based processes with the ability to create Leap apps from their XLS data tables.
  • Improved developer productivity – Expect to see new JavaScript functions, dev-ops capabilities for easily moving apps from dev to test or prod, improvements in services and many other areas.
  • Leap Administration – A new admin API and UI will be introduced to help admins understand what’s going on with their Leap deployments.  This will help admins see how many apps are out there, who owns them, whether they are being used, how much storage they are using and more.
  • HCL Leap on Cloud – A new cloud offering will be introduced next year which will build off many of the things we learned from FEB on Cloud.  We know customers want to use their own LDAP, have elastic storage options and in some cases run the product on their own private cloud vs our public cloud.

These are exciting times for HCL Leap customers.  The product is seeing the “love” it so deserves and customers will benefit.  We encourage you to contact us and tell us what you would like to see in HCL Leap’s future.
